What we believe

Our journey of faith and study of God’s Living Word, the Bible, helps us to grow as followers of Jesus, but these Core Beliefs shape the kind of church we are.

What we believe

We believe in the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. We believe God made us, loves us and has good plans for us. He longs for us to know Him as our Heavenly Father, full of tenderness and loving care.

God the Father

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ the only-begotten Son of God. He perfectly shows us God’s nature and character. Jesus, Himself said, ‘Whoever has seen me, has seen the Father’ (John 14:9). It is only through the Lord Jesus Christ that we can know God personally. Jesus once said, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life and no-one comes to the Father but by me’ (John 14.6). We believe he rose again from the dead and lives now to be the Lord of and for all those who trust in Him. He will return as judge of all human beings.

God the Son

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life. He is given to us by the Father and the Son to make the truths of God live in our experience. Without the help of the Holy Spirit, God’s truth remains meaningless and worship becomes a ritual. He comes to teach, inspire and strengthen us in our Christian lives.

God the Holy Spirit

The Bible is God’s word and authority to every generation. We believe in the divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.

The Bible

As a Baptist Church, we believe that the baptism of those who put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ is an act of obedience that demonstrates His Lordship in our lives.

Baptism

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. The Church is not a building but rather the people of God. As followers of Jesus, we are called to live in loving and supportive relationships with one another. As we do this we demonstrate the reality of God at work in our lives and the church’s life.
