WLBC’s Mission Partners

As a church, we wholeheartedly embrace the Great Commission of Jesus. Our desire is to be a church of disciple-making disciples. We want to see people come to know Jesus in Southend-on-Sea, the United Kingdom and across the globe.

On this page, you will see a list of local, national, and international organizations with whom we have partnered. Together, we want to make Jesus known and seek to show our love for them in practical ways.

Global Mission Partners

Baptist Missionary Society

BMS are part of the Baptist Union family of churches and they support its worldwide ministry, reaching out with the gospel of Jesus.

In particular WLBC supports Laura-Lee Lovering, who lives and serves the churches in Peru. She is also the BMS Creation Stewardship Coordinator with the aim of embedding good creation stewardship in all the BMS does.

Release International

Founded in 1968, Release International is a UK-based Christian ministry, supporting believers around the world who are persecuted for Christ and the gospel.

Viva

Viva is an international charity whose vision is for all children to be safe, thriving and learning – and living life in all its fullness.

They do this by building and supporting networks that unite grassroots churches and organisations to support children.

Capro

Calvary Ministries (CAPRO) is an international non-denominational mission agency that started in Nigeria, in 1975. Our primary focus and commitment is making disciples among the 7,052 unreached people groups worldwide. This has been their commitment for the last 48 years.

Evangelical Alliance

The Evangelical Alliance is made up of hundreds of organisations, thousands of churches and tens of thousands of individuals, joined together for the sake of the gospel. Representing our members since 1846, the Evangelical Alliance is the oldest and largest evangelical unity movement in the UK.

United in mission and voice, they exist to serve and strengthen the work of the church in our communities and throughout society. Highlighting the significant opportunities and challenges facing the church today, we work together to resource Christians so that they are able to act upon their faith in Jesus, to speak up for the gospel, justice and freedom in their areas of influence.

Christians Against Poverty

CAP’s vision is to see transformed lives, thriving churches and an end to UK poverty.

Through a team of hundreds of dedicated staff members based in all four UK nations, and hundreds of incredible churches delivering our services, people in desperate need are discovering life-changing freedom and hope every day.

Since 1996, they have seen tens of thousands of families and individuals break free from debt and poverty. And as the impact of the cost of living crisis is felt in households across the UK, they know there is much more to be done.

Southend Foodbank

Southend Foodbank doesn’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. Southend Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

New Life Wood

New Life Wood recycling project engages, through risk assessed referral systems from prisons and mental health organisations, appropriate people to work on the project for three months to obtain certificates in courses/modules detailed below and the opportunity to obtain a written reference on their performance to enable to apply for jobs.

In addition this experience gives people a starting point not only to earn a living but also positively impacts on their struggles against poverty. Other similar wood recycling activities have evidenced the difference made in peoples lives and also benefitted their community as a whole by reducing landfill.
