This web site is designed to help you find out more about the people and activities that make up this Christian community.

We hope you find this website easy to use, the navigation bar contains links to all the other pages, grouped according to our motto 'Jesus in Us, Our Church, Our Community, Our World'.

It is our desire to see this hope fulfilled in the lives of individuals, as a family who are connected to one another, reaching out to the wider community of Leigh on Sea and beyond that, recognising the commission of Christ to make the world a better place in His name.

If there is anything else you need to know, please don't hesitate to phone us or drop us an email, we will be only too happy to try and answer your questions.

Minister: Rev Jon Stannard

I grew up on Vancouver Island in Canada and Antonia, my wife, grew up in Coburg, Germany. We met during a gap year at Capernwray Harbour Bible School in Canada, moved to the UK in 2005, and have lived in the UK ever since. We got married in 2008 and now have three wonderful, energetic children.

We are looking forward to life in Leigh-on-Sea. Being close to the sea is fantastic and reminds me of my growing up. We are excited to explore the area, love museums and enjoy going to theatres and different restaurants.

For the past eight years, I have enjoyed serving in a sole pastorate in Okehampton, Devon. It excites me to become part of a multi-staff team at WLBC, learning from team-members, and growing the Kingdom of Christ together in the community, putting my desire to serve and my humour to good use.

I’m currently working on a PhD, focussed on Baptist theology and history. Like any PhD student, I am excited about my thesis, but if asked, be ready to get bored. I love my family, value some downtime in solitude, and am also an avid sports’ fan. In football I support Liverpool and in hockey the Edmonton Oilers. Whilst I am not ready to be called a runner, I recently started running and am starting to develop -what almost seems- an enjoyment of it.

At West Leigh Baptist Church, you are sure to find a warm welcome where people are committed to walk with Jesus and ready to share His love and compassion. If this intrigues you, know you are welcome at any time.
